Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.5.4-5
Severity: normal
Hello,
The file README.modes.gz in /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant provides a
deep explanation of the new roaming mode (using the "wpa-roam" tag in
/etc/network/interfaces' wireless network stanza(s)).
I have configured that mode in my laptop (and replaced old ifplugd +
guessnet system) and works right...
...But you need to specify an "auto <interface>" line in
/etc/network/interfaces in order to spawn wpasupplicant daemons at
system startup. Otherwise, nothing will happen (no up / down events
for the roaming interface). THIS IS NOT SPECIFIED IN README.modes.gz
file.
In my case I need to add an "auto eth2" line for my eth2 interface.
Therefore, a sample roaming interface eth2 stanza in /etc/network/interfaces
would be:
auto eth2
iface eth2 inet manual
wpa-driver wext
wpa-roam /path/to/wpa_supplicant.conf
Please add a comment in README.modes.gz about this, as it may cause
some mess to less experienced users.
Thanks.
Daniel R.
