Package: cupsys Version: 1.2.2-1 Severity: important I am unable to add printers. I tracked the problem down to cups-driverd. To test, I run cups-driverd like this:
/usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-driverd list 1 10000 '' Debug output and strace shows that it reads all the ppd files. Then it enters an infinite loop. I tried removing the last ppd files by renaming linuxprinting.org/Xerox to .Xerox. This rename had the intended effect that cups-driverd no longer scanned the Xerox ppd files. However, it still entered an infinite loop after Tektronix. I also tried moving away the whole linuxprinting.org-gs directory. This had the intended effect that none of the linuxprinting.org-gs ppd files were scanned. However, cups-driverd still entered an infinite loop, as before. This is a very serious problem. Not being able to add printers makes me look like a fool. ;-) -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.15.4-b2 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages cupsys depends on: ii adduser 3.59 Add and remove users and groups ii cupsys-common 1.2.2-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.34 Debian configuration management sy ii gs-esp 8.15.2.dfsg.1-1 The Ghostscript PostScript interpr ii libacl1 2.2.23-1 Access control list shared library ii libc6 2.3.6-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcupsimage2 1.2.1-3 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsys2 1.2.2-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libdbus-1-2 0.62-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgnutls13 1.4.0-3 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libldap2 2.1.30-13+b1 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpam0g 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpaper1 1.1.14-0.4 Library for handling paper charact ii libslp1 1.0.8a-2 OpenSLP libraries ii lsb-base 3.1-10 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii patch 2.5.4-11 Apply a diff file to an original ii perl-modules 5.8.4-2 Core Perl modules. ii procps 1:3.2.1-2 The /proc file system utilities ii xpdf-utils [poppler-util 3.01-6 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-11 compression library - runtime -- debconf information: cupsys/raw-print: true cupsys/backend: ipp, lpd, parallel, socket, usb -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
