package hplip reopen 380845 found 380845 1.6.7-1 severity 380845 grave retitle 380845 hplip 1.6.7-1 uninstallable due to Python transition thanks
HPLIP is now uninstallable in sid: it depends on python (< 2.4) which can no longer be satisfied. To work now that /usr/bin/python is Python 2.4, it will need to use #!/usr/bin/python2.3 for all scripts, and depend on python2.3 (assuming that your comments about it being untested on Python 2.4 are still appropriate). According to the python-support README.gz, to do this in an automatic way using python-support you should use "dh_pysupport -V2.3" *instead of* dh_python, and build-depend on python-support (>= 0.4). You will probably also need to edit the #! line in scripts installed to /usr/bin. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (990, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (101, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hplip depends on: ii adduser 3.96 Add and remove users and groups ii coreutils 5.97-3 The GNU core utilities ii cupsys 1.2.2-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii hplip-data 1.6.7-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - da ii libc6 2.3.6-19 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcupsys2 1.2.2-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-10 GCC support library ii libsnmp9 5.2.2-5 NET SNMP (Simple Network Managemen ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8b-2 SSL shared libraries ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-10 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-2 userspace USB programming library ii lsb-base 3.1-14 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii python 2.3.5-11 An interactive high-level object-o ii python-qt3 3.16-1.2 Qt3 bindings for Python ii python-support 0.4.1 automated rebuilding support for p Versions of packages hplip recommends: ii cupsys-client 1.2.2-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii hpijs 2.6.7+1.6.7-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - gs ii hpijs-ppds 2.6.7+1.6.7-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - HP ii python-reportlab 2.0dfsg-1 ReportLab library to create PDF do -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
