Ok. This is of course the "right" behaviour by design of docbook-xsl. There was already a similar wishlist report for this feature. I probably would solve this wishlist item via a paramter, that tells, what the default for paper.type and page.width.portrait should be. Probably: - intern definition (current) - /etc/papersize with LC_PAPER as default as alternative Not sure, how difficult this will be or if it will be possible in the way I think of it. It will need some sort of script to realize it. I will have a closer look, after the current dpcbook-xsl packages passed NEW. Then I also have a better overview, what issues are still outstanding. PS: A similar request was made in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=173093. Merged both requests.
