Having just talked to J5 (upstream author) on IRC, he suggested killing dbus components until I would notice smooth keyboard operation again.
1) Killing dbus-daemon changed nothing. 2) Killing dbus-launch restored smooth keyboard operation in X. Q-FUNK: I just logged out and back in. this time, I left dbus-daemon alone and went straight to killing dbus-launch. it fixed it. Q-FUNK: --exit-with-session makes it watch stdin. could that be the culprit? J5: I would say talk to some X guys. Don't know why that would be because dbus-launch just does an exec. I welcome further step-by-step instructions to perform, towards finding the source of this keyboard input disruption by dbus-enabled apps in X. -- Martin-Éric Racine http://q-funk.iki.fi
