I am unable to reproduce your bug.
Could you please try launching totem-xine from a terminal with:
"LC_ALL=C totem"?
Could you please use "reportbug totem-xine" and send the output to this
bug report (to list the versions of all packages which totem-xine
depends on)?
If you still get the bug, please send a backtrace by following
<http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace> and breaking on
__gconv_release_step.
