Well, it does report the number on sparc, but see below...

That's 10 CPUs. And linuxinfo only has strings for up to 9. I have to
think how to proper fix this (besides simply adding "Ten" for this 
specific machine). I don't like to type all numbers up to 1024 for the
altix user who wants to try this out. You don't by chance know a library 
for transforming a number into an (english) string? 

And you obviously showed me that the idea of only going with powers of
two is not working either. (Yes, I knew this limitation for a while,
but did not expect Debian to scale so quickly :-))

Given that the freeze of Etch is still a few days away, I'll want to think 
about a proper solution for this for a few days.
