Package: parted Version: 1.7.1-2.1 Followup-For: Bug #333684 Tags: fixed, sarge, etch
Hello, trying to increase an ext3 filesystem in the following environments with parted I get the following error and resizing was not possible: Error: No Implementation: This ext2 filesystem has a rather strange layout! Parted can't resize this (yet). Environment 1: kernel-image-2.4.27-2-k7 2.4.27-10sarge1 libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge3 libparted1.6-12 1.6.21-1 parted 1.6.21-1 Packages from Sarge. Environment 2: kernel-image-2.4.27-2-k7 2.4.27-10sarge1 libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge3 libparted1.6-13 1.6.25.1-3 parted 1.6.25.1-3 Parted was backported from Etch to Sarge using apt-src. Using parted Version 1.7.1-2.1 from Sid I can increase the size of the same partition without problems. Parted warns about experimental code, but it seems that no error occurs and an e2fsck -f /dev/hdxy shows no problems afterwards. Environment 3: kernel-image-2.4.27-2-k7 2.4.27-10sarge1 libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge3 libparted1.7-1 1.7.1-2.1 parted 1.7.1-2.1 Parted was backported from Sid to Sarge using apt-src.
