As a starting point, what's the output of the following commands
from your running Debian trixie system:

  dpkg -l | grep grub
  lsblk
  ls -la /boot/grml

Is there any change, when using latest grml-rescueboot v0.7.0 from
our github repos at
https://github.com/grml/grml-rescueboot/releases/tag/v0.7.0
or our repos at https://deb.grml.org/pool/main/g/grml-rescueboot/ ?

If you video record the boot process with your phone, is there
anything visible (e.g. in slow motion then), that might be useful to
know?
