Ping --- just want to make sure you saw my last update and patch. I have been using this workaround for a few weeks successfully. The patch you included in ratpoison_1.4.0.dfsg-4 (thanks!) doesn't actually solve the problem (as you suspected), although I don't believe it hurts anything either. I can maintain a branch, but it's nicer not to.
