I think that modifying the build-dependencies for the package which is
uploaded for etch to include the sarge dependencies is not the right
thing to do. I know that it is improbable, but the auto-builders could
link the binaries to different versions of the libraries (eg.
libmysqlclient15-dev vs. libmysqlclient14-dev) and it is not a clean
solution.
All in all, backports.org is there for this purpose and the package
builds fine with sarge + backports.
