this seems to be a problem in the source code provided by
the upstream developers. it seems that they didn't regenerate
their configure script after updating configure.ac, so the
configure script still references the previous version. why
don't you take a grep -r 0.8.6 . from inside the source
tree and let me know if you agree with my assumption.

i'm fairly certain that cacti-cactid is built against the tarball that
they claim is 0.8.6g, but that due to a bug in their release it's
showing up as a previous version.
please let me know if you hear anything from the upstream developer
about this.
