firmware-misc-nonfree is < 20 MiB installed, of which Lontium firmware
is well under 1 MiB.  This does not seem worth splitting packages yet.

With my embedded systems hat on, I would say that Debian is not a great
choice for a small embedded system.  But if you are building immutable
images, you are free to remove whatever files you don't need before
finalising the image.
