It depends if this is considered as a normal behavior. IMHO, it can be seen as normal since the OS provides the feature (without any warning) and other tools do the same thing (e.g. mv and MUAs), and the Subversion bug (#376103) should be reset to "grave", since its behavior is not documented[*] and one can lose data.
