Dear Adrian,

I don't know what a NMU is, as I leave all Debian related matters to the
NeuroDebian team.

But the part of the diff at the end, that removes setting those build flags
related to gstreamer and glib, may go wrong on all architectures except
64-Bit Intel and 32/64-Bit ARM. Psychtoolbox has its own non-standard build
system - Matlab/Octave M-File scripts - which does not auto-detect any
build flags, but hard-codes some things like include paths, e.g., for glib
and gstreamer. We only have proper hard-coded paths for ARM and 64-Bit
Intel, as these are the only architectures I as upstream officially build,
test and support.

So without that patch, created by the NeuroDebian maintainers of the
Debian Psychtoolbox packages, my understanding is that the builds may fail
on all other architectures. This would be Debian's problem if you remove
those settings, as I don't have the time to look into any of this atm. and
for the foreseeable future.

The rest of the patch - backporting some compatibility changes I made -
should be fine.

Best,
-mario
