Hi everyone,

the Kokkos version currently available in Debian-unstable is not compatible with the Trilinos version available in Debian-unstable.

I updated Trilinos to 17.0.0 in this MR on Salsa. (https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/trilinos/-/merge_requests/3).

If the version numbers in the earlier provided patches are updated, Trilinos-17.0.0 can be build against Kokkos-5.0.2 available in unstable (tested on amd64).

I see that point.

If a version of Kokkos against which Trilinos can not be build is uploaded, I assume that is caught in the migration from unstable to testing.

I expect a newly uploaded Kokkos version to remain in unstable until Trilinos can be build against the new version.

That could then e.g. be solved by also updating Trilinos.

If two incompatible versions of Kokkos and Trilinos are in unstable it seems to me that this is the same situation we currently observe in the Debian package repo.
