The recent fcitx task changes are at https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/tasksel/-/merge_requests/56 My main focus there was removing input methods other than ibus from desktops that are not KDE Plasma. I haven't looked into whether it makes sense to stop including fcitx5 in the kde tasks. Currently, both ibus and fcitx5 are installed for kde tasks for many languages. Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
