It can query information pages exposed by the device and parse the returned data into a form that can be used by other software. It also sends control commands to the device for actions such as rebooting, triggering HDMI hotplug, changing operation mode, selecting which HDMI inputs are routed to TX outputs, and adjusting options related to audio, CEC, IR, OLED display behaviour, relay state, and reboot timers. This library is a dependancy of Home Assistant, the Python smart home platform. I plan to maintain it as part of the Home Assistant team.
