Hi, I just wanted to pointed out that I would also vote for a tar flag for building lzma-compressed tarballs internally (without using a pipe).
I maintain backup-manager (upstream & debian) and just added support for tar.lz archives. If it would be possible to build such archives with a single tar command, that would be great.
