I have looked into my logs and I have seen that the whole problem started after my disk ran out of disk space.
It seems that debmirror left some cruft into a '.temp' directory, and then it could not recover from that by itself, even though the disk was not full anymore (I deleted some stuff, so the disk has some 440Mb then).
