Package: passwd Version: 1:4.17.4-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
The passwd command fails to work with domain user accounts specified in the "domain\username" format on Debian 13. This is a regression from Debian 12 where passwd version 1:4.13+dfsg1-1+b1 handled this format correctly. When attempting to change a domain user's password using the standard format, the command returns an error: $ passwd domain\\username passwd: Provided user name is not a valid name This format previously worked in Debian 12 with passwd 1:4.13+dfsg1-1+b1 and should continue to be supported in Debian 13 for users with domain/LDAP authentication (such as Active Directory). This regression prevents domain users from changing their own passwords using their domain account credentials. -- System Information: Debian Release: 13.0 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.12.38+deb13-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages passwd depends on: ii base-passwd 3.6.7 ii libacl1 2.3.2-2+b1 ii libattr1 1:2.5.2-3 ii libaudit1 1:4.0.2-2+b2 ii libbsd0 0.12.2-2 ii libc6 2.41-12 ii libcrypt1 1:4.4.38-1 ii libpam-modules 1.7.0-5 ii libpam0g 1.7.0-5 ii libselinux1 3.8.1-1 ii libsemanage2 3.8.1-1 ii login.defs 1:4.17.4-2 Versions of packages passwd recommends: ii sensible-utils 0.0.25 passwd suggests no packages. -- no debconf information Sebastian DeJesus Software Development Engineer BeyondTrust beyondtrust.com<https://www.beyondtrust.com> [cid:16139364550149596559.png]<https://t.xink.io/Tracking/Index/w34CAAMkAAAzCTcB0>
