This is an upstream change: https://gitlab.gnome.org/chergert/ptyxis/-/commit/7dde510ad78fbc69f2f6f95e2832424aa1c1c0ea You probably had this set to its default value, and so when defaults changed upstream it also changed for you. Now that you set it manually though it should no longer follow defaults and it should persist unless upstream removes this setting altogether.
