Thanks for upgrading aegisub to its latest upstream version! Unfortunately though, the latest aegisub fails to build on some of the release architectures, e.g. ppc64el, riscv64, and s390x, because the embedded luajit doesn't support those architectures (build logs: ppc64el[1], riscv64[2], s390x[3]). OTOH, the luajit shipping in Debian does support those architectures, which is based on a maintained fork. Currently aegisub cannot use it directly because it has not enabled lua 5.2 compat mode yet. I have a follow-up in bug#781728[4] with a MR to enable that support. Ideally, once that's taken care of, aegisub can drop the embedded copy of luajit and build against the Debian luajit directly, and solve this issue. However, if that doesn't happen soon - given that bug#781728 was opened 10 years ago - aegisub may just embed the Debian fork to take care of the release architectures, though it would be cumbersome to keep all the patches up-to-date.
