The issue described in NEWS.Debian is pretty scary. (It was improved by f693cc456426bd4f57d6243f43f1faca6bf79ec7, thank you) Can you clarify what happens for repositories which do not use encryption (Encrypted: No)? Relatedly, since the relevant version bump occurs between Bookworm and Trixie (1.2.4 → 1.4.0), I feel this should be mentioned in the Trixie release notes. Have you had any contact with the authors?
