The code is still there but it was merged in the main library;
from this comment I found upstream it was already old news in 2021

I did not understood the meaning of the debian/TODO file
in portmidi repository. I though it only meant it had
to go through experimental to get vetted in the NEW
queue by FTP masters.

A mass rebuild of the 10-something reverse dependencies
would have been a better idea & a great opportunity
to try out debusine.

I've read a bit about the musescore2/3/4 situation
and it seems your on your own to patch-out
the now extraneous "-lporttime" link option. :-(
