Package: vim-snipmate
Version: 0.90-2
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream
Dear maintainer,
On a fresh install of vim-snipmate and vim, there is now there is a
warning message on every startup:
The legacy SnipMate parser is deprecated. Please see :h
SnipMate-deprecate.
The mentioned help text suggests that the warning goes away with the
following line in ~/.vimrc:
let g:snipMate = { 'snippet_version' : 1 }
… but this is especially annoying for new users on the system that don't
have a ~/.vimrc yet, or don't intend to use snippets at all, and in the
latter case the warning message is confusing.
I would suggest to remove the warning message from vim-snipmate, and
mention the parser deprecation in NEWS.Debian instead. For the next
version cycle, the current master branch on GitHub already has switched to
parser version 1 by default and removed the warning.
Thanks,
- Roland
