Package: devscripts
Version: 2.25.19
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/uscan

Hi,

from debian-watch(5) I got the impression that I can have multiple
stanzas in debian/watch, and wanted to use that for my package sniproxy
which is deprecated upstream. I therefore want to be able to easily
package git head while still being able to package a release should they
do one again.

But:

Version: 5

Template: Github
Owner: dlundquist
Project: sniproxy

Source: https://github.com/dlundquist/sniproxy.git
Matching-Pattern: HEAD
Mode: git
Pretty: 0.6.1+git%cd

Didn't work as expected. Since I went through like fifty versions with
different information in debian/changelog, debian/gbp.conf, debian/watch
etc, I cannot even say what exactly happened.

I might investigate further if you indicate to me whether what I want to
do is expected to work by the uscan authors. I think that the gbp
configuration upstream-vcs-tag plays a role; i might need to set this
for the first stanza to work, but it must be unset for the second stanza
to work. And, of course, the current upstream version being hardcoded
into the second stanza is suboptimal as well.

Maybe this is also material for an advanced example in the manpages.

Thanks for providing uscan.

Greetings
Marc
