I'm seeing similar behaviour from `vim' under screen. Cursor keys work fine. PgUp/PgDn while in insert mode have the desired action, but also rings the terminal bell each and every time the key is used.
I have screen set to audible bell rather than visual bell - as I always have. This wasn't the case under bookworm. I did an upgrade using APT to Trixie, all went well. I suspect it is related to this bug. vim package version: 2:9.1.1230-2 Vim reports: :set --- Options --- background=dark langnoremap scroll=12 textwidth=80 cindent nolangremap scrolloff=5 ttimeout display=truncate nomodeline showbreak=+ ttimeoutlen=100 filetype=c modified showcmd helplang=en nrformats=bin,hex softtabstop=8 incsearch ruler syntax=c cinoptions=:0,l1,t0,g0,(0 comments=sO:* -,mO:* ,exO:*/,s1:/*,mb:*,ex:*/,:///,:// fileencoding=utf-8 fileencodings=ucs-bom,utf-8,default,latin1 formatoptions=croql omnifunc=ccomplete#Complete runtimepath=~/.vim,/var/lib/vim/addons,/etc/vim,/usr/share/vim/ vimfiles,/usr/s hare/vim/vim91,/usr/share/vim/vim91/pack/dist/opt/netrw,/usr/share/vim/ vimfiles/ after,/etc/vim/after,/var/lib/vim/addons/after,~/.vim/after suffixes=.bak,~,.swp,.o,.info,.aux,.log,.dvi,.bbl,.blg,.brf,.cb,.ind,.idx,.ilg ,.inx,.out,.toc wildignore=*.ko,*.mod.c,*.order,modules.builtin
