Thanks for looking into Debcraft! All code is just shell script, so you can debug what the commands do by injecting 'set -x' in the script. You can also run with --debug.
For me to be able to reproduce and investigate your report, can you share which commands exactly you ran? I see the outputs you quoted but I am not sure what commands and options produced them.
