I don't use the command line, I just launch virt-manager, select my virtual machine, and click the play button. While it is launching, I have time to look at the following output in the command line:

ok, this is something.

The gist of it seems to be:

-spice port=0,disable-ticketing=on,image-compression=off,gl=on,rendernode=/dev/dri/renderD128,seamless-migration=on \
 -device virtio-vga-gl,max_outputs=1

(I used local dri node instead of the one from the above command).

Unfortunately I've no idea how this spice+gl+rendernode works, and
even how to use it as a normal user - how to see the guest screen
when qemu is run this way.

So I can't help here.

You can try to file a bug report in the upstream bug tracker,
https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues , and/or write to the
qemu-devel mailing list.

This issue is very specific, - lowering severity of this bug report
to "normal" due to this ("important" severity basically means it
affects most users).

I'm sorry but that's basically all I can do for now, unless there's
some info found about how to run this stuff without virt-manager.

Thanks,
