I've tested that one too now, without any success. Not setting an output device 
makes it seem like it's playing something, but to cancel it, you need to press 
Ctrl+C twice for it to actually quit. When defining the output device to be the 
module (as far as I understand it), it says ressource busy. Also, this error 
message appears in the users journal:


xdg-desktop-por[3558]: Realtime error: Could not get pidns for pid 11688: Could 
not fstatat ns/pid: Not a directory


Also, recently Gnome started showing audio to be muted in the top bar when the 
audio outputs disappear, instead of still showing a volume level indicator.
