Ahhh, I admit I have not checked since I'm so used to autoconf
stuff. Sorry about the false assumption.

Https would have been sufficient. However, if you say the configure
script is not generated and Git does not contain any other file than
the release tarball that's not needed.
What might be helpful would be the signing key which you used to create
the *.asc file to sign the tarball.

If you intend to remain listed as Uploader for this package it makes
sense to become a member of the Debian Multimedia team on
salsa.debian.org. If you are not interested I (or someone else from
the team) would put the ID as uploader and remove you from d/control.
The only thing you need to do is to just confirm that this is your
prefered option.
The package will not be uploaded before Trixie release - thus the very
first step is "waiting". ;-) Than I will upload the package - either
sponsoring with you as Uploader or with some other ID as uploader
according to your preference.
