Since there are many different possibilities to "disable" "cron", I would
like to suggest that you in the future give more exact description of what
you have done, for example like "I have commented out the entire entry in
/etc/cron.d/logcheck" or "I have run systemctl disable --now cron" or
something else.
I exactly pasted what I did, i.e. commenting out the entry in the cron
script.
