package: synaptic
version: 0.90.2
Maintainer: Michael Vogt <[email protected]>

System: Debian 5.10.234-1 (2025-02-24) oldstable, latest update

Issue description example:

passwd 1:4.8.1-1+deb11u1 (oldstable-security)

In Synaptic for the package under 'Properties' > 'Description',
the URL to changelogs is merely a generic link to GitHub

-> https://github.com/shadow-maint/shadow

It has no obvious connection to the relevant changes/reasons mapped to 'shadow', i. e. links not directly to the relevant changes with their descriptions and should most probably be:

-> https://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/main/s/shadow/shadow_4.17.4-2_changelog

Likewise, for all packages in Synaptic:
'Properties' > 'Description' > Click 'Get Changelogs'
links to a non-existent entry and produces an error:

"This change is not coming from a source that supports changelogs.

Failed to fetch the changelog for passwd
URI was: https://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/main/s/shadow/shadow_4.8.1-1%2bdeb11u1_changelog";

The correct path shold obviously be 'shadow_4.17.4-2_changelog', too.

According to
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=913139

The issue exists for several years now, and supposedly should've been fixed in Synaptic 90.x, but the fix either hasn't worked, or not been backported to oldstable accordingly.
