and given that the package never built on riscv64 and other
architectures where the symbol is missing, it is not really release critical.

This is maybe true from an opensnitch perspective.

But from grpc_tools.protoc perspective: the program just doesn't 
work on riscv64, yet we ship it.

That seems release-critical to me.
