Hello, Thank you for your help. I actually resolved this issue about 4–5 weeks ago. The cause of the problem was, quite strangely, related to the NVIDIA drivers. I was using the open-source NVIDIA drivers and was encountering this error. Later, I switched from the open-source drivers to the proprietary ones, and the issue was resolved. The open-source NVIDIA driver was locking the package manager and causing the installation to fail. I fixed the problem by switching to the proprietary NVIDIA drivers.
