MAIN PROBLEM: According to 'apt info ng-latin', this package, actually editor, supports Latin character encoding (ISO-8859). However, when editing a file containing these characters, I notice that the package editor interprets and displays the Latin characters coming from files, not those from the keyboard. Now, I remain in doubt: should this be the default behavior of the editor or should it also interpret keyboard input? If the answer is the second option, we have a bug. And, if it is a bug, I think it is related to 'iconv' unix tool, as I report in the additional information below.

Additional information: analyzing the package's source code, I realized that it requires iconv to be compiled; however, when I tried to compile it, in the same version made available by the Debian repository, the following error was returned:
