Package: initscripts Version: 3.14-3 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
/etc/init.d/kmod was recently dropped from the kmod package. The script used to load kernel modules sourced from drop-in files in /etc/modules-load.d/ during boot. My first idea was suggesting the script for inclusion into orphan-sysvinit-scripts, but it looks like the mechanism only works for scripts the orphaning package provides a service file for (of which kmod has none). To complicate things the kmod package tries to purge rcS.d links on every upgrade[1] so I had to rename the script. On the systemd side kmod.service is part of the systemd package. So maybe its worth to consider the inclusion of /etc/init.d/kmod (or some variation) into initscripts. ~Tim [1] https://salsa.debian.org/md/kmod/-/commit/c2ae42ca3a338fba0f190e3a61a635d386b1e8fa -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.12.17-1 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) Versions of packages initscripts depends on: ii sysv-rc 3.14-3 ii sysvinit-utils 3.14-3 Versions of packages initscripts recommends: ii e2fsprogs 1.47.2-1 ii psmisc 23.7-2 ii util-linux-extra 2.40.4-5 initscripts suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/rcS changed [not included] /etc/default/tmpfs changed [not included] /etc/rc.local changed [not included] -- no debconf information
