Mmm, there are *many* function typing issues. I don't plan to spend time
on this (and xmkmf will go away sooner or later). Hopefully xtel wil
make it for trixie, but most probably not forky.
if these are leaf packages, you always can set the standard explicitly
in CXXFLAGS.
