Yes, I think it's reasonable for latexila to move to the Debian GNOME team since it's managed upstream similar to gedit which the team already maintains. I can work on this soon. I'll need to reimport the git repo since the Debian GNOME team has a particular style (full upstream git history with git-buildpackage and DEP-14 branches). Why the 10-day delay?
