Dear Petter,
Thank you for your Appstream update.
Current status:
I orphaned this package back in August 2024 [0]. It has not been adopted (either
within debian-python or outside) in almost 6 months. I do not have the time or
expertise to become a pseudo upstream maintainer to fix builds, and no longer
tinker with micro:bits.
Future:
In order to get firmware-microbit-micropython into the next stable release of
Debian, at least the following needs to happen:
*) it needs to build successfully in unstable (with suitable build flags, see
[1]) - I am not aware it does at the moment with current GCC tooling; see [2]
from September 2023.
*) Any remaining RC bugs need to be closed [1].
*) (wishlist) it should be adopted by a new maintainer/uploader going forwards,
ideally within debian-python.
Once these tasks are completed a new release can be made. I am happy to see that
mu-editor has been adopted and a new release made since being orphaned last year.
Thanks,
Nick
