It is false.  I have spoken to the schroot maintainers and they do not
consider schroot deprecated.

There are good reasons on buildds for wanting something with stronger
security isolation.  That we have changed the buildds away from
schroot does not necessarily have any implications for other use
cases.  Specifically:

It does not mean that schroot is unsuitable for maintainer use.
In particular, a maintainer is very likely to *run* the very thing
they're building, on their main system.  So they are trusting it
anyway.

So, in summary:

schroot is not deprecated.
autopkgtest-virt-schroot is not deprecated.

Sean, I recommend you continue to use them as you have been used to.

(FTR I consider describing someone else's software as deprecated,
without consulting them, as intolerably rude and hostile.)
