Dear Maintainer, People using NetworkManager, and installing iwd will certainly want NM to use it. By default, NM uses wpa_supplicant for the WiFi backend. When it is on, iwd cannot be used. Switching to iwd is easy, simply adding these lines in the NM config, e.g. in a dedicated file in one of the conf.d directories: [device] wifi.backend=iwd Then it should help the end-users to install a file with these two lines in /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/. This is what is being done on Ubuntu: https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iwd/commit/?id=e42ca2f7634eada23e62b07f40901250c912ae0f This should not affect existing users already using iwd with NM, or the ones not using NetworkManager. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Versions of packages iwd depends on: ii init-system-helpers 1.67 ii libc6 2.40-6 ii libell0 0.71-1 ii libreadline8t64 8.2-6 Versions of packages iwd recommends: ii dbus [dbus-system-bus] 1.16.0-1 ii wireless-regdb 2024.10.07-2 iwd suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
