Hi Marc,
it seems you served as upstream developer as well as Debian maintainer
for this nice package which is great. I realise that your last activity
was in voting[1] - thank you for your contribution here. This page also
suggests that your involvement in other fields has stalled for about six
years. I sincerely hope you've found other fulfilling and challenging
pursuits to dedicate your time to.
Today your package shellinabox came up as a candidate for the Bug of the
Day[2]. When inspecting the package it seems you served as upstream
developer as well as Debian maintainer for this software. While this
might seem natural for you I consider it more convinient for general
users to find the code without the debian/ dir. We can also easily
maintain Debian specific issues on salsa so turning the packaging into
a non-native package seems to make sense. I also created an upstream
issue about this[3].
If you would consider to either review the open PRs yourself or open the
Github project to some developers you trust (which is for sure important
in some security relevant code - we all remember the xz issue thus doing
this sensibly and without time pressure seems to be important) I would
volunteer to take over the packaging to Salsa - most preferably in the
Debian/ team.
Thank you for all your previous work on this code
Andreas.
