Unfortunately, even with the (equivalent, I believe, of) your patch applied, a build with autopkgtest checking enabled still fails, so I guess that you proposed your patch without testing its outcome (which is perfectly fine - bonus points if you'd mentioned that, though), and I am staying with the more invasive solution by Peter Green of considering it meaningless to test this crate without any form of regex enabled.
