Bug#1088883: konsole: Compose key not working on wayland (and repeat key neither)

I'm experiencing the same symptoms (compose key not working, key repeat not working). I don't think this is a konsole bug, as it seems to affect all Wayland apps (konsole, Firefox, Thunderbird, Emacs pgtk in Wayland). As far as I can tell all X apps running in xwayland work fine (xterm, Emacs pgtk in X). I have a US keyboard, with compose key set to right alt. I too am running KDE plasma in wayland (kwin_wayland). When I press right alt, wev reports Multi_key as expected.

I tried upgrading the following from testing to unstable:

  kdecoration 4:6.2.3-1 to 4:6.2.4-1
  kwin 4:6.2.3-1 to 4:6.2.4-1
  plasma-activities 6.2.3-2 to 6.2.4-2

but that did not help (same problem).
