pulseaudio v16 has bugs that cause gstreamer pipelines to hang, leading
to bugs in qt's multimedia backend (and potentially other applications
based on gstreamer).
these two patches are in v17, but not in v16.1 are required to fix the bug:

it would be great if they could be backported to the debian packages of
pulseaudio 16.1 (afaict this issue affects debian 11 and 12)
