I also have this problem. This is IMHO a bug in the usb backend (no backward compatibility), or at least something we should be catering for on upgrades (or at least clearly documenting as an upgrade issue). The solution is to modify the printer and choose the "proper" USB device. For example, I used to use "usb:/dev/usb/lp1", but with the new CUPS "usb://EPSON/Stylus%20C60" is the . CUPS 1.2 works fine with the latter, but not the former. Check by running the USB backend: $ sudo /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb direct usb://EPSON/Stylus%20C60 "EPSON Stylus C60" "EPSON Stylus C60 USB #2" "MFG:EPSON;CMD:ESCPL2,BDC,D4;MDL:Stylus C60;CLS:PRINTER;DES:EPSON Stylus C60;" Regards, Roger -- Roger Leigh Printing on GNU/Linux? http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/ Debian GNU/Linux http://www.debian.org/ GPG Public Key: 0x25BFB848.
