I didn't want to appear too insistant but I also think it's the best
option, with the additionnal argument that this is the upstream
recommendation and we all know that we have a good upstream, don't we?

Actually, /var/spool/samba, on a dedicated partition, is what I use on
my heavily loaded print servers.
