See attachment for the steps to reproduce on it_IT.UTF-8 locale. I am unsure what more information to offer as this used to happen consistently on my setup before the upgrade to backport, just by clicking on the elements circled in the screenshot.
Sorry for not making myself clearer earlier. The expected behavior is a new window opening up to select symbols(/special characters?). The actual behavior is nothing happening.
